Ceramics I

Introductory Course.  Students learn how to mix clay, load/unload kilns, hand-build with slab roller, extruder, plaster/bisque molds and design/fire work with stains, engobe, low fire & high fire glazes, Soda/Salt, Raku, Pit-fire and Wood kilns.

Ceramics II

Intermediate students learn the pottery wheel tradition in mugs, bowls & plates, lidded containers, and composite vessels. Building on their skills from ceramics 1, students learn how to load/unload high-fire kilns, mix studio glazes and maintain studio equipment.

Advanced Levels

Advance ceramics courses continues the traditional pottery discipline as well as exploratory/experimental ceramics processes. Slip-cast/mold making, glaze test/line blend, clay test/formulation and kiln operation.
